How it works on the pitch

From there a player can shoot, play a diagonal pass into the box, OR play a through-ball to the winger — three threats from one position. It is a 'blind spot' for the defence: neither the full-back nor the centre-back is the obvious owner of the zone. Mezzalas and inverted wingers live there.
