Third man run
A combination where A passes to B, and B plays first-time to C — the third man — who arrives in motion and receives in space.
How it works on the pitch
Works because the defence tracks the first pass (A→B) but cannot readjust in time for the player arriving at speed (C). The most reliable way to break a compact block without needing a dribble.
